I am currently employed as an Instructional Media Developer at Education Management Corporation (EDMC) Online Higher Education in Pittsburgh, PA. At EDMC, my primary duties include the conceptualization and production of a wide variety of instructional media elements used to enhance online course content and assist student learning at the Art Institute Online, South University, and Argosy University. As an Instructional Media Developer, I provide design services and design direction for instructional media elements according to established needs, aesthetics, quality standards, budgets and project deadlines; and collaborate with program managers and instructional design teams to ensure high quality online courses.
Prior to my current job at EDMC, I was employed as an Instructional Media Technologist (IMT) at West Virginia University Research Corporation - VMC/Homeland Security Programs, where I used computer-based graphic design and animation software to create content for formats such as web-based instruction, interactive computer-based instruction, and print media. My primary responsibilities included development of professional education and training media content for web-based courses, from the conceptual design of graphics and flash animations to the final online course implementation.
At West Virginia University, my job duties also included studying objectives, gathering data, consulting with subject experts, formulating and proposing concepts, and using multimedia software to develop professional education and training programs, primarily for the government sector (FEMA, Department of Homeland Security, etc). I worked with a multidisciplinary research team to develop visual solutions to meet training communication needs. My role as an IMT included creating web graphics, flash interactions, page layouts, content composition, editing, and HTML/CSS coding for the web-based courses. I was responsible for testing and assurance of 508 accessibility for the web-based courses produced by the organization, and packaging the finished course for implementation into a Learning Management system using software such as Plateau Question Editor and RELOAD. In addition, I was responsible for supervising a team of Graduate Assistants. I also created promotional displays, binders, and multi-media presentations for use with client training and for educational and marketing purposes.
Prior to working at West Virginia University , I was employed as the Web Designer at Literati Information Technology, where my primary responsibilities include web site layout and design, from the conceptual layout of all web sites designed by Literati to the final site implementation. In addition, I was responsible for coordinating and training Literati web clients in regards to their web site administrative area, including site content editing software. My job duties included creation of site graphics, page layouts, content composition and HTML/CSS coding for all sites designed by Literati. In addition to working with the web development team, I also worked directly with clients in regards to training programs for web based-services and their marketing needs. I produced technical manuals, as well as educational and marketing content for use with client training, and client’s web sites.
I was also a member of the Literati Marketing Team and was directly responsible for the production of internal and external marketing items, including web content, electronic and printed brochures and newsletters. I created expo display items for use at trade shows, which helped to develop and implement strategic marketing elements directed towards boosting sales and clientele.
I graduated from Fairmont State College as a member of Epsilon Pi Tau honors society for technology majors and maintained academic honors status throughout my Bachelor’s Degree program.
